.... a continuation

Who ever is reading this.
If you know Vidat, you know me.
I was his best friend, I still am, and I will be.
I dont know why I am doing this, but I just feel I needed to somehow let someone know what a great friend he was. He is.

Our friendship is what dream are made of. And as long as the dream goes on, so do the characters. Maybe you came back to read this blog, or happen to stumble upon this.
I am doing this, cause i dont want, what Vidat started to go incomplete. I will log in regularly, just to keep the account alive. Just to read what he wrote. I dont want his memory to go faint, his face to be forgotten, memories of him lost in the big rush that is life. I dont know how people reading this feel about it. I couldnt care less. But I loved my friend. I will scribble.

He is in a better place. Pray for him.

Does history repeat itself???

Then:

I remember very well the first time my Uncle(Harind) took me to Elliots aka Besant Nagar beach along with my younger brother(Vineet). We drove to the beach. Walked on the sands and cluctching my Uncle's hand me one and my brother the other dived in to the bay of bengal. For the next one hour or so we were totally enjoying the dive into the beach when a wave approaches and go along with the waves holding on to the hands of uncle. What fun we had!!!The event is etched in my memory even though it was some 14 -15 years ago.

Now:

This time me the same uncle and his kid(Rohith) went out the same Elliots aka Besan Nagar beach. (One of the best ways of drowning your sorrows is to look into the sea and think about nothing else other than nature and natural wonder. Looking into the sea make you feel so small and hence reduces your burdens). This time around I was holding my Uncle's son's hand and he was doing all the diving around in the water. Does history repeats itself?. Had a wonderful time with him. Also wanted to get back to those days where u just dont have to bother about anything else. I did not even realize that my trousers were getting wet and I had my new mobile phone in it. When I realized it; it was too late. But it doesnt really matter does it; I can buy any mobile but moments of happiness are more precious.

Seven Stages of a Software Engineer

Seven Stages of a Software Engineer:

1) In the first stage when a guy, mewling and puking as in he asks every one around how the systems works and stuffs, comes into a project with a lot of DREAMS and ASPIRATIONS to enhance his resume and if possible sneek in an onsite opportunity.

2) In the second stage he learns more about the technical side of the things. Explores the system and goes to its depths to find out how the hell the system works. He listens intently to what his stupid managers have to ditch out to him(Some are good but most are not. My first manager was a dude; so was my mentor luckily).

3) Then comes a stage where he goes beyond his duties to do whatever his superiors say to him. Like he mite be asked to do excel sheet work in the pretext that it would improve his management skills at least thats what most of the stupid managers
tells. He doesnt have the guts to say that "I am a DEVELOPER treat me like ONE; I would do only coding of which I am expected and only expected" instead he becomes his OFFICE BOY doing all his dirty work like fillling out excel sheets again thinking
that he would please the manager, or thinking that 'Why should I get into the bad books of the god damn manager', or thinking that it will really improve his management skills which it surely wont, or even thinking that by doing the dirty work would fetch him an onsite opportunity, sadly it does not work that way.

4) Then comes the stage when his colleagues start to influence him to beleive that the picture is not as rosy as the manager potrayed it initially. And even they have gone through the same shit and still are sitting at offshore, have not been promoted to Leads and effective this project does not add any thing to resume either.

5) Finally the bubly kid grows up, starts forming union of sorts with the team mates and he too cribs big time about the project and passing on the buck as good as he can to the new entrants.

6) Then comes a stage where the kid err now adolescent grows out to become an adult. He tells his manager he wont do his work and its his(manager's) responsiblity to do the his work and he cant cheat the adult now telling that "Dirtly work would improve his so called management skills". He tells him that he would work only for the time thats specified in the companies contract. If at all critical issues then fine but if not he would get to office and leave office on time and not to be contacted outside office hours regarding meaningless bug fixes. Now the manager reponds telling that the adult "HAS DEVELOPED AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM".(If a s/w has an attidude which every would have then it is deemed as ATTITUDE PROBLEM if its not convenient to the manager. If it brings him more profit then you are the best. If you use it against him you are termed as a rebel and not fit. What Nonsense!!!!!)First one shoud ask him to check labour laws and then speak. It is exploitation if the manager asks his sub ordinate to work beyond the time and forces him to stay. Come on a software engineer is not a slave to
his manager. Both are working for an organisation and both are salaried. Here s where the old management principles comes "People quit the managers not the organization".

7) Finally the software engineer is released from the project goes out as a full grown adult having his PRIORITIES and ATTITUDE right to the serve the organization in a far better way than his first project. And in which stage are you in?

Just missuhhhhh

All characters in this blog are not fictious and even indirect references to them is intended. And if you are brainy enough you would understand that by replacinng the first letter by last so on you would get their real identity. If u are not better do as told in the previous sentence.

This blog is about the wayanaad trip that Sep 12th 2005 training batch went. Wow what a batch we have. Now lets come to the matter. After roaming around in wayanaaad and doing trekking n stuffs we finished our trip taking a shower(If thats what u call ) in a waterfall. We I mean around 8 of us decided to get into the water and enjoy the elixir of life. Only Theehcus and Dnivara and I knew swimming others did not know. There was a spot in the waterfall where the water was just about 6.5 feet and just about enough for an average Indian to drown. So what did i do I tempeted Urith and Ahteeniv to join me in that spot. They fell for the temptation. Suddently an idea crossed me why should i hold on the Urith and Ahteeniv and why not just leave them and let them drown. But dunno for what reason I held on to them and they are still living to tell u stories about wayanaad trip. Had I been lillllllllll mischeivious result would have been different. Hmmmm thats what friendship can do to you...

Is it good to be bad in Sports???

First let us do character analysis in Ricky Thomas Ponting the current captain of the best side in the world. He is not a nice guy by an strech of imagination. He plays cricket within the rules meaning he uses sledging, swears at the oppositon, had a drinking problem and got a blow on this face when he misbehaved in a put. But he still is the best player in the world and leads the best team in the world.

Now Stephen Roger Waugh. He told once "If you have an opposition down make sure that they are down and they disintegrate both physically and mentally". He had even the guts to say to Herschelle Gibbs when he dropped his catch "Mate you have dropped the 1999 WC" and went on to win it. Even he was not a nice guy.

Then comes Shane Keith Warne. He is the greatest leg spinner of our time. But still he is also not a nice guy. He has a bookie scandal against his name, had phone sex with a british female, he is divorced. But still he can outhink even the greatest of the contemprary batsmen. Even he was not a nice guy.

For that matter most of the Aussies are tough. Meaning they have the killer instinct and dont give the oppostion second chance.

Now let us come to good ones. Adam Gilchrist, he had the guts to walk when he was playing against SL 4 yrs ago in a semifinal. The umpire gave him not out but he walked. Very unlike an Aussie but he did it and continues to do it. He was and is a nice guy and he still is a great performer.

And Roger Federer. Have you seen him swear or even show emotions on court. I have not. He is a nice guy a very nice guy and is the best tennis player by far. Nadal is good only on clay but Federer is unbeatale in every other surface except clay and that too only by Nadal. Federer is a nice guy and rules the world. Had he used gamesmanship no one know what he could have acheived or probably he would not have. No one knows!!!

So in sport even if you are a Nice Guy or a Bad Guy does not matter. What matter is the killer instinct, never say die attitude and switch on your concentration when required and switch off when not required. Hence I would conclude that Being bad does not determine your success or even vice versa. First you need talent then comes these trivial attributes

Sutta Mil heee gaya

When i was a kid i was told by my mom that smoking is Evil it kills u and Kills others. So i did not respect ppl who smoked and told me tat y dont u try!!! Then when i came to college one of close frnz told me tat he had seen his dad smoke since he could remember and he hated the smell of smoke itselft!!!
Similarly many of my frns did not smoke so i was blessed in the sense tat my lungs were not affected with rotten tobbacco smoke!!! Then came the mass exodus, whoever said smokin is bad became a regular smoker and glorified it even my closest frnd( whose dad used to smoke). But i dint budge i held on to my principles...
Then i came to office... Here everyone i mean the male species smokes yaaaar... But i still held on... Then after two years of not restraining myself i gave in... 'Change is Constant' yaar... Wat say??? My buddy who sits next to me introduced it to me... The first cigerette i smoked i fell flat near the tea shop near my work place.

Then came the resolution i ll smoke once a month, Then it became onde a week , Then once a day, then thrice a day, Then a 20 pack a day, Then 10 a day, Now 6 a day.... Hoooo wat a transformation.

The adv of Smoking
1) Great way to build contacts. U get to meet so many ppl in smokin zones. U can exchange a lot of ideas.

The Disadv of Smoking:
1) U ll spoil your health and health of loved ones if they are near to u when you happen to smoke.

Dont Generalize

Hmmm Yesterday I was bikin at Night as usual. At night Chennai is Beautiful tat too if u r on a bike and friend in the pillion(I would prefer a GF but should wait for a while i guess). And suddenly my bike stopped; the reason no petrol!!! We were stuck near Anna University. We needed to walk 3 km to the nearest Petrol Station.

Then Came an Auto Wala. I thought he ll be a usual Auto wala who overcharges and the 'Times of India' was around 1:45 Am. I told him I would give him only 30 bucks. He said since it is an Emergency he ll do it for freee. I thot it was just a gimmick. Then we went to the Gas Station(Getting used to US lingo he he) Parking my bike there only near AU and asking my frnd (Vignesh) to safeguard my hard earned property. The gas station ppl dint even have a bottle. I saw one of the 1 litre water bottle and said that i would buy it and use it to fill petrol. the gas station guy said Beleive me or not "This is not for sale". I thought Watttttttt neeeway.

The Autowala had a bottle with him and he requested the Gas Station meano to fill it up for 20 bucks. He obeyed him immediately. Ppl do respect Auto walas. Then we went back and filled my bike with it and he waited till it started. I offered him 100 bucks and told him u Deserve it. He said i made a deal with you and wont break it and returned 70 bucks. I pinched myself; Had i been in his position i wd have jolly well taken the money since i wd have felt i deserved it. Then I asked his name(Now i am rakin my memory cells but still his name dosnt seem to strike. I am bad at remembering common name; only uncommon names stick to me espppp bcos mine is and some prolly 1,2 3 ... of my frnz are; And Btw he lives in Madipakkam). I offered him a cigarette and told him it is a foreign brand Malboro Lights. But he said he doesnt smoke or drink. I was petrified to say the least chennai auto wala not takin extra money, no bad habbits and the way with which he dealt with ppl. Tooooo goooooooood.

So pl dont generalize!!!

Blame it on the Berm(Bell) Boys

Analysys of Failure of India to go beyond first round the WC 2k7 and the reasons for Failure

1) We were in the Group of Death as they call. Come on Bangladesh is no push over so arent Sri Lanka. The only team which is unheard of before the WC2007 is Bermuda.

2) We Did not have a proper warm up leading to the tournament. WI dint play to their potential in their Practice game. So there was absolutely no match practise in the West Indian pithches. Blame it on the West Indians for not providing us with a good warm match. They were absolutely useless in that particular match. Sometimes a perfect match does not expose your weakness. There is absolutely no learning from such matches except it gives you an illusion that your team is perfect, which is not always the case.(Indians are not Ausssies who learn even from their best performances where they absolutely blank the oppositions. And Indians are not as Ruthless as Aussies. Sometimes it pays to be ruthless. Take Stephen Roger Waugh for Example.. More on him later...). We have a heart to weaker teams. And thats why we lost to Bangladesh not that we are not capable. And we are a very good neighbours.

3) All the indian players have class. Saurav, Sachin, Rahul definitely have loads of class and elegance. Butttttttttt that alone wont suffice(Take Mark Waugh for example. According to me the besssssst batsment of his time in terms of technique and of course Elegance how can i not associate it with him. He is god no doubt. You can pay a Million dollar to just see him play one Leg Glance of his or the ease with which he takes his catches... Buttttttt again he dint have the Grit or Ruthlessness or Killer Instinct whatever you call Which his Twin Brother had even though he did not have the Gift in his Genes. The world Remembers Stephen Waugh more than his 'Gifted' twin. Life is not fair mate learn to live it). The bottom line is that Indian lacked the mental Strenght or Grit. Please go to S. Waughs house and do gardening then only you can learn how to be Grittty.

4) And there were no fear of Failure. Sometime this also helps. Every cricketer will get their fee even if they lose the match and they have loads of sponsors. Am not against sponsorship but lil skeptical about it in Team games. In individual games its ok since you are playing for yourself and not your County. So the board should come to Decision that palyers should 'Perform' daily or 'Perishh' . Sometimes extreme pressure gets the best out of you. It may also crack em but come on you are playin for the worlds largest Democracy. So if pressure gets to you be sure to kicked out and dont complain. There are always 1000000 of better batsman or bowlers who are not as lucky as the 16 that reprensented in WC2k7. Had they been given a chance the probably we could have made it into the Second Stage of WC2k7.

5) And last but not the least India Did not deserve the Second Stage berth. And one of my frns namely Shashank Tangirala happy that Bangladesh actually won it. It was from the bottom of his heart. Yess many wd have this feeling too. Now India has hit the Rock bottttttom. They should go back to drawing bords asses the causes for the lossses and get back. Sometimes when you hit the rock bottttom the only way is up so dont lose heart. And I am not suggesting one bit about choppping and changing or players. It doesnt work out tat way.. So come on India WC 2k11 is not far offfff. Start preparing for it right away and I want you seee you winnin at the Eden gardens. And it has to a clinical effort. Inida shd score 500 and Get the opposition out for less than 100. Sport is war so prepare for it. Come on India!!!!!! You can do it!!!!!!!!!
